Sorakuen Garden (相楽園)

A wonder not to be missed, the Sorakuen Garden encapsulates the charm of ancient Japan.

Savour the exquisite beauty of the Sorakuen Garden, a traditional Japanese landscape garden in the heart of Kobe. Admire the perfectly pruned plants and see the Cycad wood trees imported from Kagoshima, said to be three centuries old. Calm your soul to the soothing melodies of the babbling streams and look out for the 27 quaint stone lanterns.

Cross the antiquated stone bridge and appreciate the tranquillity of the pond. The gem lies on the bank of this pond, where the one and only kawagozabune (two-storey wooden houseboat), used by the feudal lord of Himeji for pleasure cruises, lies surrounded by lush greenery. See the intricate designs of lacquer and gold leaf on the houseboat. Continue on the winding stone path, which will take you to the Kodera Stable and Hassam House - a traditional foreign residence built in 1902. At the end of your journey, relax over a cup of matcha at the teahouse.
