Son Tra Mountain (Monkey Mountains)

Ready to be on top of the world?

Son Tra Mountain was known to American soldiers during the War as Monkey Mountain, likely due to its large population of wild monkeys that comb the jungle-covered cliffs. The mountain boasts a breathtaking series of views from 850m elevation, where you can see the curved coastline and the entire city spread out before you like a giant canvas. You will be able to commune with nature and experience it from an entirely different perspective.

Moreover, the mountain has a fascinating history: it was a prominent observation base during the American phase of the Vietnam war, and now houses radar domes belonging to the Vietnam military, as well as a helicopter landing pad. The mountain is also surrounded by pristine beaches such as Bai Bac, Tien Sa, Bai Nam and Bai Bat. Moderate hiking trails extend from Bai Bac to the mountain summit, where you can spot rare and exotic animals such as macaques, loris and langurs.
