See the beloved park of the Muscovites, where the Grand Dukes of Muscovy used to hunt for sokols (falcons).
Created by Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich (father of Peter the Great), the immense Sokolniki Park is the green lung of Moscow, which promises a relaxing time for visitors. Perfect for jogging amidst nature and the sweet songs of around 76 species of birds, kids will also love this park for it has a variety of funfairs and amusement parks near the entrance, and offers a generous space for a time of play and fun. Try spotting a shy rabbit or squirrel scurrying from tree to tree or relax under a maple or oak tree.
Alternatively, head for the interesting observatory where you can watch the sky or admire the artworks at the Modern Calligraphy Museum. Visit the chess club, which has produced some of the greatest grandmasters in history. With plenty of food kiosks to choose from, one could also opt to have a picnic amongst the lush greenery. Reflecting the charms of all the four seasons, sweat it out at the winter outdoor ice skating rink. This is truly a park which all will enjoy.
