Sofiero Slott

Lush greenery surrounding a formidable structure.

Nothing quite marries peace and regality so wonderfully like the Sofiero Slott, or Sofiero Palace. This elegant estate has humble beginnings, starting off life as the Skabelycke farm. Its luck changed when it was purchased by then Prince Oscar of Sweden and his wife Sophia, who expanded it in the 1870s, and made it the majestic monument you see before you. He then gifted it to his grandson, Prince Gustaf Adolf and his wife Princess Margaret for their wedding, and their addition to the palace is one of the reasons for its fame. I am of course referring to the park, filled to the brim with plant life, more notable, the over 500 types of Rhododendrons. Indeed, the park was even ranked as Europe’s Best Park in 2010, and the minute you lay your eyes on it, you will understand why. Explore the royal castle, and enjoy the view of the adjoining gardens, and realise that your visit to Sofiero Slott was worthwhile.
