Soave Castle (Castello di Soave)

Explore the enchanting castle ruins of Castello di Soave!

A truly picturesque sight awaits at Castello di Soave - a towering medieval castle located at the top of the quaint Soave Village in Verona. Built in the 10th century as a fortress against the Hungarians, the beautiful ruins of the castle have become a treasury of medieval history and culture. A look into the history of the castle reveals the occurrence of many war events in the past, and at one point in time the castle lost its strategic importance. However, restoration efforts in 1830 by Giulio Camuzzoni brought new life to this historic gem, which rests amidst rolling green hills and towering trees. The plain-looking castle contains a tall central tower and three courtyards, with high walls encircling it. From the top of the castle, you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the highlands, quaint villages and surrounding vineyards - a beautiful spot to soak in the historic story of Verona.
