A well-known beach among surfers, Sidi Kaouki is a cool hangout spot away from the hurly-burly of Essaouira.
Sidi Kaouki is one of the best beaches located along the coastline of Essaouira. Named after the final resting place of the Sufi saint and teacher Sidi Kaouki, this beach is especially famous for watersports enthusiasts. Many people come here to experience the thrilling waves that can go as high as three metres as well as the strong undercurrent. If you’re walking around the beach, you’ll probably notice more people surfing in the sea than lounging about on the beach, that’s how popular surfing and windsurfing are over here. Even if you’re not thinking of getting into the water, it is a wonderful spot to hangout and just unwind. But if you’re looking to do something else besides lounge about and relax, well, there are quad bikes that you can rent to explore the area, including the quaint Sidi Kaouki village that’s close by. It’s also a delight to see camels and horses casually walking along or sitting on the shore.
