Shrine of Remembrance

A tribute to the fallen Australian soldiers of WWI.

Animal lovers should definitely head down to the Melbourne Zoo, especially since it is located a stone's throw away from the city center! All it takes is a 5 minute walk from there, and you will be able to pass through this beautiful zoo's gates. Modelled after the renowned London Zoo, Melbourne Zoo boasts over 320 species of animals from all over the world, set in their natural habitat. See the majestic Asian elephants at the Trails of the Elephants exhibit, enter the free-flight aviary, admire the endangered Orangutans in their sanctuary, or walk through the Australian Outback to see native Australian wildlife - the choice is all yours. There is even a Wild Sea exhibit where visitors are subjected to underwater realism, and you will be able to see the little penguins, seals, and many more delightful sea creatures! Special talks by the zookeepers and specific feeding times should not be missed either, as visitors can get the opportunity to get up close and personal with the amazing animals.

Tips Before You Go
The zoo is relatively small, but you could easily spend 5 hours walking around and looking at all the animals over here. It is also highly accessible for those with disabilities, so wheelchair-bound individuals can visit with no worries. Just take note that the food options here are limited and rather expensive, so you might want to pack your own food along.
