With more than 15,000 marine wildlife ranging from exotic poison dart frogs and translucent jellyfish to elaborate leafy sea dragons and lovable emperor sea penguins, the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world, and perfect for marine wildlife lovers and families alike. Situated in the financial district – Pudong, Shanghai, the aquarium is located adjacent to several other popular attractions, including the Oriental Pearl TV tower and the Jin Mao Tower.


Go on an interactive journey through the longest underwater tunnel in the world (155 metres!), and come face to face with a colourful, rich diversity of marine wildlife in uniquely themed habitats from an incredible five continents and four oceans. A highlight is the China Zone, which boasts a wide variety of rare, stunning aquatic creatures native to China, especially from the beautiful Yangtze Valley, such as the Chinese sturgeon, the Yangtze alligator, and the giant salamander.

Tips Before You Go
Visitors are recommended to start exploring the aquarium from the third floor, and make their way down to the basement where the underwater tunnel is located.
Check out the feeding times beforehand and time your visit accordingly for a magical sight!
