Perhaps the most recognizable symbol of the Bund in Shanghai.
Frequently featured on postcards, the historic Shanghai Custom House is a prominent eight-storey building on the Bund. Completed in 1927, the current Custom House occupies an area of 5,722 square meters and is divided into two sectors: the eastern section, which is eight-storeys tall, faces the Huangpu River and is topped by the famous clock tower, while the western section is five-storeys tall and faces Sichuan Road.
Marvel at the clock tower, the largest in Asia, which is about 90m tall and offers panoramic views over the entire Bund and Shanghai city center. The clock is interestingly made up of more than 100 pieces of glass, and both the clock and bell were inspired by the design of Big Ben at the Palace of Westminster. Moreover, step into the main hall and be awestruck by the stunning marble columns decorated with gold leaves.
