Sendang Gile Waterfall

Prepare to be enchanted by twin spouts spilling liquid silver from the heart of Mt Rinjani.

Directed by the pointed fingers of locals and egged on by the scent of fresh air and cool mist, it’s easy to trace your steps to the well-known Sendang Gile Waterfall. It’s not much of a backyard secret for the locals of Senaru who are familiar enough with questions about their precious gem of nature at the foot of Mt Rinjani, sought by hikers, adventurers and the occasional wandering soul.

Regardless of which category you fall under, the initial site of Sendang Gile is sure to illicit a small gasp from you. Under sparse sunlight, the fine spray is illuminated as gold dust floating in the air, coalescing as an iridescent rainbow shimmering against the white curtain of the falls. Tumbling leaves of ferns and wall plants cover the 30m of cliff down which the water tumbles. But don’t just stop and stare at Sendang Gile! Wade into the refreshing mountain water and step under the pounding cascade for the full experience. More than a feast for the eyes, more than a clearing of the mind, Sendang Gile is unlikely to disappoint.

Tips Before You Go
Both Tiu Kelup Waterfall, located close to Sendang Gile, and Sendang Gile itself can only be accessed upon paying a small token fee for entrance. Consequently, it might be a good idea to plan to visit both waterfalls for their unique charms. Understandably, if you’re not as avid an enthusiast about getting wet, a taste of at least one of the two falls is still highly recommended. Sendang Gile is the closer option with Tiu Kelup found some distance above it.
