Seitan Limania, Stephanou, Satan’s harbor.
The extended tongue of the Sea of Crete curls around limestone lips in this natural inlet carved between the cliffs at Seitan Limania Beach. Off the main parking space and entrance leads a brush trail over broken rock and rubble. 10 minutes down this path will lead you to the sight of a bed of white cupped at the end of a narrowing passageway of impossibly blue water. The beach itself is a mix of pebbles and sand worn down by the salt hanging in the air. Rock shelves along the sloping walls of the cliffs act as natural springboards for the diving enthusiasts. Given the enclosed nature of Seitan Limania, you’re very likely to find yourself with several other beach-goers dotting the shoreline with color during a poorly timed trip. A pro-tip is to aim for the weekdays before 10am and the off-peak season. That way you can fully admire the natural beauty of the ocean’s waters reaching forward through the cliffs, ebbing and tiding as they carve away the cliff face.
