Edinburgh, Scotland
Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art

An inspiring display of the masterpieces of contemporary art.

As its name suggests, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is dedicated to modern and contemporary artworks dating from the 1900s up until today. Comprising two buildings, Modern One and Modern Two, the gallery is located on Belford Road in Edinburgh and set in a beautiful sculpture park. Housing a collection of more than 6,000 paintings, sculptures, installations, video works, prints and drawings, it includes the masterpieces of world-renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard and Andy Warhol. There is an in-depth collection of the works of Scottish artists. Look out for the recreation of Eduardo Paolozzi’s studio in Modern Two, as well as the towering 7.3-metre sculpture! The gallery is famous for its Surrealism collection, where Surrealism was a radical, 20th century movement which sought to challenge conventions through the exploration of the subconscious mind. As the exhibits at the galleries are changed regularly, returning visitors will enjoy an entirely new experience each time.
