SCMAGLEV and Railway Park (リニア・鉄道館)

A railway museum dedicated to high speed rail technology in Japan.

The SCMaglev and Railway Park is a railway museum which opened its doors to visitors in 2011. The museum introduces the significant advances in high speed railway through rolling stock displays. The park offers an educational experience for people of all ages, showing how the railway has impacted the Japanese society, economy, culture and lifestyles. Inside, an impressive display of 39 full-sized retired train cars are displayed, along with a bus exhibit, train cab simulators, and dioramas of railway models. Amongst the train cars are the historical steam locomotives, Shinkansen trains, as well as the magnetic Superconducting Magnetically Levitated Vehicle (Maglev) trains. Various electrical railcars are also on display here. Visitors are welcome to learn through the numerous models and simulators, where they will experience a taste of the life of a train conductor and train driver. The museum is also home to Japan’s largest train dioramas, with trains running through the recreated cities of Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.

Tips Before You Go
For visitors who are driving, do take note that there is no parking available at the museum. For convenience sake, you may take the train instead; the museum is just a two-minute walk from Kinjofuto Station. To enjoy a more informative experience, pick up an English audio guide which is available on-site.
