This fascinating museum goes by many names: the Science and Maritime House, or the Technology and Maritime Museum. Regardless, the nature of its exhibitions are pretty easy to pinpoint with no prizes for guessing what they display.

Although housed in an unimpressive red-brick building, the museum’s interior and well-curated exhibits are sure to blow you away. The visit will take you on a journey through Swedish history to an interactive future, and belongs to the larger grouping of Malmö museums. Some of the museum’s highlights include an actual U3 submarine in operation during World War II that you can now enter and experience from an entirely new perspective. Besides viewing the sailors’ cramped quarters and engine room, you can even operate the periscope for a live view of Malmö! You’ll also get to witness the museum’s great collection of historical vehicles, including airplanes, steam trains and even a brilliantly preserved horse tram! There are also a range of rotating exhibits whose topics range from the history of Malmö itself to the father of modern taxonomy, all of which are designed to enrich your mind.
