Santa Monica State Beach

Sink your feet into soft sand and have a whale of a time at this beach.

The iconic Santa Monica State Beach is the perfect example of a Southern Californian beach, with its velvety sand and wide expanse of space offering fun for all. Dive into the crystalline waters and splash about, or pick up a surfboard and ride the waves. Soak in some sun and enjoy a delightful tan if you don’t fancy anything physical.

Beachcombers, this 3.5-mile beach calls to you! But that’s not all you can do here - the Marvin Braude Bike Trail provides the perfect atmosphere for cyclists, with the waves crashing in the distance and the wind rushing past you. If you can’t sit still, dash in the sand in a game of beach volleyball or drop by the Annenberg Community Beach House, with breathtaking views, a splash pad and playground for the children. The beach is home to the original Muscle Beach, so make your way there to try your hand at the gymnastic equipment available for both children and adults. End your day with a sumptuous meal at one of the many cafes, or pack your own mouth-watering food to enjoy at one of the picnic areas along the edge of the beach.
