Santa Catarina Park overlooks the port of Funchal in Portugal and spans a large area of over 36,000 square metres. It comprises of a large lawn with tree species from all over the planet. It is situated specifically between Avenida Sa Carneiro and Avenida do Infante. It offers spectacular views over Funchal from the bay to Ponta do Garajau. Apart from the wide variety of flora, visitors can also pay a visit to the bird nurseries within the park, as well as other attractions like the Santa Catarina Chapel and the lakes here. In fact, there is even a statue built to commemorate Infante Dom Herinque, who was a navigator, as well as one of Christopher Columbus!
