San Francisco Zoo

A zoo with an important message for all.

Sandwiched between Lake Merced and the Pacific Ocean, the 100 acre San Francisco Zoo is a great place to spend some quality bonding time with the family. The purpose of the zoo is not only to expose people to flora and fauna, but to create a sense of ownership with regard to conservation. Get the chance to expose yourself to some interesting and exotic animals here such as the Amazon milk frog, named after a poisonous milky substance they emit when they perceive threat, and the Chacoan Peccary, a species of mammal only discovered in 1975. Those itching to get even closer to the animals can look forward to having breakfast with a grizzly bear, serving food to the giraffes at the Giraffes’ Home, surround yourself with wildlife at the boundary-free aviary and more! The gardens here are not to be missed, with rare species of plants from different parts of the world. Understand the importance of not just progressing the human species, but the protection of our friends from other species at the San Francisco Zoo.

Tips Before You Go
The zoo is huge (the map provided by the zoo will definitely come in handy!) so you might not get to see every single exhibit. It will be great to select a few animals you certainly want to see on this trip as the highlights. Just a tip, the little ones go crazy on seeing the baby giraffes (you absolutely do not want to miss the giraffe feeding time!) and baby flamingos!
