For a global horticultural experience that can be obtained all at one spot, the San Francisco Botanical Garden is at your service. This 55 acre garden which is located within the Golden Gate Park is home to over 8500 plant species, giving you a crash course on the fascinating flora from all over the globe. Whether you yearn to see the tall wax palms and the vibrant Passion Vines of Chile, the Staghorn Ferns and multicolored Banksias of Australia, or the Red Elderberries and Wild Lilacs of California, you will be spoilt for choice. Moreover, because some of these flowers bloom at different time of the year, you can be sure that each visit of yours is like no other! There are the South African and Rhododendron Gardens for winter, the Garden of Fragrance and Andean Cloud Forest for summer and the Ancient Plant Garden for fall. For those of you who like a little history mixed in with your botany, there are some ancient plants for your viewing pleasure such as the Cycads of the Jurassic period and the Water Lilies of the Cretaceous period.
