Hosting the largest collection of Dali’s works outside Europe in St Petersburg, Florida.
On the waterfront of Tampa Bay, the Dali museum and its gardens stand out due to the large glass entryway and skylight, often called the “Enigma.” New and hurricane-protected, the only thing to take you by storm will be the 96 Dali oil paintings, hundreds of watercolours and drawings, and thousands of graphics, photographs, sculptures and objets d'art. The museum even has 7 out of Dali’s 18 masterwork (classified when they are at least 5 feet in each direction and were worked on for over a year) paintings, the largest number of any single museum, making this a huge interest point for enthusiasts of surrealism, Cubism and Dadaism.
Even those uninitiated in art history will find themselves captivated by galleries, films, camps and temporary exhibits and events by the museum, not only displaying work by Dali himself but those that were inspired by his style, including the recent collaboration with Elsa Schiaparelli’s fashion design works. Everything the museum does come with a motive to educate creative audiences. Every Sunday morning at 10.30am, they even hold yoga classes for all, regardless of experience levels. The Cafe Gala, named after Dali’s wife, also aims to educate diners on Spanish history and culinary history using Spanish cuisine, making for a location to have a hearty breakfast or brunch by the waterfront before embarking on your surrealist journey.
