Saliara Beach

The Saliara Beach of Thassos is straight out of dreamland.

The name of this beach is not a coincidence. Saliara, which means “marble”, is one of those places that used to be a well-kept secret, although more and more people are heading there upon hearing of its wonders. That said, it hasn’t lost an ounce of its beauty; the water is still limpid and a vast spread of turquoise, and the entire ecosystem is well-balanced. Overlooking the shore is a lush green hill that is a sight for sore eyes.

To get to Saliara, all you have to do is drive down the dirt road that is adjacent to the entrance of Makryammos Hotel and Bungalows for approximately five kilometers until you see the beach from the top. For those eager to simply settle down and relax, there are sunbeds and parasols for rent spread across the beach. The road is not in the best condition but the view totally makes up for the bumpy journey!

Tips Before You Go
The seawater only deepens abruptly after 5 meters, so it’s quite safe for children as long as they don’t stray too far.
