Sakıp Sabancı Museum

See a treasure trove of Ottoman calligraphic art and more.

Looking out across the Bosphorus, the Sakip Sabanci Museum is housed in a historic mansion with an elegant garden which once belonged to Turkey's foremost industrialist family, the Sabancıs. A private fine arts museum devoted to calligraphic art, Ottoman-era paintings as well as state and religious documents, the museum opened its doors in 2002. Apart from these permanent collections, other temporary exhibitions of international repute are also held here: the works of Pablo Picasso and Auguste Rodin, Monet, Rembrandt and Anish Kapoor. Look out for Kapoor's ‘Double' which is now part of the museum's permanent collection on display in the beautiful garden.
