Gaudi’s architectural masterpiece – incredible and breathtaking.
The beautiful, iconic Basílica I Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familía is Gaudí's architectural masterpiece - a Roman Catholic Church unfinished, as this visionary architect did not live to complete one of his best works. Gaudí's work on this building is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was recently proclaimed as a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI. Today, constructions continue in order to realize Gaudí's completed vision for this absolutely incredible building. Gargantuan towers loom in this structure, and the stonework is meticulous and beautiful. Its facade is designed to perfection, and its surroundings complement it wonderfully. The Sagrada Familía is one of those structures in Europe that is so dazzling and quintessentially majestic, that even if you never get to see all of Barcelona in your lifetime, this is one part that you cannot leave without visiting.
