For those who love flowers and botany!
With its entrance at Plaza de Murillo, next to the Prado Museum, the Royal Botanical Gardens of Madrid is a must-visit for lovers of flowers and plants. Declared an Artistic Garden in 1942, the garden holds over 90,000 plants and flowers, and over 1,500 trees. So cruise leisurely through Terraza de los Cuadros, where medicinal, ornamental, endemic, aromatic and orchard plants gather around a beautiful fountain, with a Japanese garden on the Southwestern corner.
Visit Terraza de las Escuelas Botánicas and enjoy a taxonomic collection of plants across 12 plots, arranged around their own little fountains. Terraza del Plano de la Flor holds a romantic collection of trees and shrubbery, with a beautiful pavilion. The garden also has the biggest Herbarium in Spain, containing over a million species from across the globe with material from 18th to 19th-century expeditions!
