Los Angeles, United States of America
Rose Garden, Exposition Park

The best kept secret of Los Angeles.

Follow the alluring scent of roses and wind up in the 7 acre garden in Exposition Park which is populated by hundreds of gorgeous roses. You’ll soon realise that there’s no limit to the number of different shades of this classic bloom, which through time has come to symbolize love, joy, beauty and hope. The garden is awash with pinks, reds, whites, oranges and purples in a rainbow of vivid hues. Since 1940, the All-America Rose Selection has donated its Rose of the year to the garden, so the garden has now accumulated the most exquisite roses in history.

The four quaint gazebos and elegant water fountain in the centre of the garden make you feel as though you are wandering the grounds of a great palace, where all things lovely and pleasant abound. The quartet of marble statues by Danish sculptor Thyra Boldsen were created with the intent of celebrating life, love, and happiness, the perfect complement to the roses symbolism.

It’s hard to believe that this park was once threatened to be dug up and replaced with an underground carpark, as it is impossible to imagine that anyone would consider destroying such remarkable beauty.

Take a picnic on the sprawling lawns or on one of the benches in the park. Vendors selling snacks and drinks are also another option.
