Rose Garden, Bern

Relax and smell the flowers in the Bern Rose Garden.

A sprawling garden filled with the sweet scent of flowers and with unparalleled views over the Old Town and the River Aare – the Bern Rose Garden offers its visitors a small slice of heaven within its neat gardens and perfectly pruned flower beds.

Nature lovers will adore the huge variety of flowers in the garden. With 223 roses, 200 iris and 28 rhododendron varieties, the entire garden is a beautiful mosaic of vibrant colours and fragrant smells. Grab a book and find a comfy spot in the pavilion or reading garden for some well-deserved alone time, or feel free to play a game of frisbee on the fields, as long as you don’t go near the more peaceful gardens. Children will have their fair share of fun too, with a huge playground for them to wreak havoc and run free.

Tips Before You Go
Look out for Albert Einstein hanging out on one of the benches in the garden. Depicting a lesser-known image of the brilliant physicist in his younger days, this statue allows visitors to take a selfie with one of Bern’s most famous residents.
