The Roros Museet (or Roros Museum), which was established in 1930, is a fantastic way to pass time while visiting Roros, Norway. It takes you back onto an unparalleled journey into Norwegian history. The history of the village and itssmelting industry are well explained, with the use of scaled models depicting the appearance of the smelted wares and their respective functions.

With audio guides available, take a peek at the many artefacts and structures within the museum which was once an old mine - it will give you a taste of the daily routine of the miners who toiled at these mines. Learn about the processes involved in mining such as separation of copper from stone and gain insight into the impact mining has had on the environment. You’ll even be able to walk into Olav’s mine, an actual copper mine that has had 300 years of rich mining history before it was decommissioned!

Other attractions within the museum include a clothing exhibit which has proven to be rather exciting spectacle, especially for the young ones. Stop by the gift shop just before leaving for a little souvenir to remember from your time here!
