Rödasten Konsthall

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”, and this is exactly what draws thousands of people to The Rodastern Konsthall, THE hottest place for people from all walks of life to gather with one common goal: to appreciate art.

The perfect mashup of new and old, the Rodasten Konsthall and its surrounding area of urban construction coexisting harmoniously with nearby nature gives this place a universal appeal. All nature of people from fishermen to tango dancers to grandparents hand in hand with their grandchildren can find something of value at this unique art hall. The striking red painted stone at the waterfront is the namesake of Rodasten Konsthall, an artwork in itself, which stimulates the imagination of countless people to conjure up their own stories about what gave the stone its symbolic red hue. Come decide for yourself, and at the same time why not add your own splash of colour to the legitimate graffiti wall in Gothenburg, dubbed “the Dragon”, a 41 meter long patch of wall dedicated to creativity and free expression.

A number of exhibitions and performances are held in the hall by both local and international talents, mostly featuring contemporary art, which are constantly changing and updating to keep things fresh. Hoping to promote a love of art in the youth in our society, the hall hosts an ongoing programme Youth and Creativity, which allows them to embrace their individuality in the process of dabbling in art such as animation, graffiti and even exotic batik painting. Of course, there are many workshops which welcome people of all ages as well, so pick a day and come on down to unleash your inner artist!

Tips Before You Go
The restaurant at the hall offers a menu with fantastic food with great value, and some of you will rejoice to find out about meatless Sundays, a popular day for both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike to visit to experience wholesome and nutritious plant-based deliciousness. The hall can be a little tricky to reach, and while there are several different ways, a small tip would be to take to hop onto the seabus (Alvsnabben) from Lilla Bommens, opposite the opera house, and disembark at the last station. Although a slightly more time consuming, it is a much more pleasant journey with good views and a sea breeze for the same price.
