An iconic, national historic landmark.
Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the Rockefeller Center is a massive complex comprising of 19 commercial buildings spanning 22 acres. Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987, the centerpiece of the Rockefeller Center is the 70-floor, 266m-tall building at 30 Rockefeller Center, also known as the Comcast Building or 30 Rock.
The building was where the iconic Lunchtime atop a Skyscraper photograph was taken by Charles C. Ebbets in 1932. It depicts construction workers sitting on a steel beam without safety harnesses, eating lunch. Admire the 200 flags of UN member countries around the plaza. Be inspired by the monumental statue of Atlas facing Fifth Avenue by sculptor Lee Lawrie, as well as the impressive stainless steel bas-relief, News, at the Associated Press Building by Isamu Noguchi. See the gleaming statue of Prometheus as he gazes upon the happy ice-skaters during winter at The Rink. A trip to the Rockefeller Center is not complete without a visit to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, with a breathtaking view of the city.
