Rjoandefossen

A gorgeous waterfall in Flam, Norway.

Rjoandefossen, otherwise known as Roandefossen, is a beautiful waterfall situated south of the village of Flam, in Norway. It is one of the more famous waterfalls in Norway due to its beautiful surrounding landscape and the immense power at which the water plunges downwards. With a cumulative height of 241 metres split into 3 vertical falls, it is not hard to be attracted to the allure of the magnificent Rjoandefossen.

Most people will see the falls along the Flambanen by train but it is also accessible via car or foot from Flam. Be careful though, as the first waterfall you will come across, which will be just outside Flam,is Brekkefossen, which is not as tall or powerful as the Rjoandefossen, which lies further down the road. Many tourists have mistaken then Brekkefossen for the Rjoandefossen and have left disappointed, so be sure not to commit the same mistake!

There are several viewpoints good for photography in all directions of the falls, from which you capture the fall in all its glory along with the stunning landscape serving as the Rjoandefossen’s backdrop!
