A quiet evening stroll at Ravnedalen Park is the perfect remedy for any kind of stress in life.
With its name rhyming with those of Oldedalen and Innerdalen, we wouldn’t be surprised if you imagined that Ravnedalen was yet another stunning valley in beautiful Norway. While Ravnedalen does incorporate lush greenery and water body as its elements, it does so at a smaller scale in it humble capacity of a park in Kristiansand.
Open all year round, the park was constructed in the late 19th century by military soldiers under the command of then Colonel Joseph Wergeland. You can even find the prominent Colonel’s (he was later promoted to Major General) bronze statue in the park! Featuring romantic gardens, beautiful lakes and exotic flora & fauna, this nature park is huge change from the valleys many are used to visiting in Norway. The Ravnedalen also is home to the elegant swans and you’ll easily catch them wading gracefully through the lake.
Ravnedalen is now one of the many cultural sites in Kristiansand, and has played host to many concerts and events over the years. Should you ever tire from visiting the valleys, glaciers and waterfalls in Norway, you can stop by Kristiansand and just indulge in the tranquil atmosphere of this gorgeous nature park.
