Rainbow Falls, Hilo

Deriving its name from the beautiful rainbows you can see in the morning, it is a beautiful sight to see.

A modest 80 feet tall, Rainbow Falls’ height pales in comparison to nearby ‘Akaka falls. Larger and more spectacular, the Rainbow Falls keeps keeps a secret, explaining its beauty.

Aptly named after the rainbows one can often see in the morning, one will be surprised by the multiple rainbows flitting through the falls. Caused by the small water droplets that surround the large body of water cascading down, they reflect the rays of light from the morning sun, showcasing a beautiful phenomenon. A hidden gem, it is thus surprising not many know of it. An easily accessible waterfall, this is great for even those with limited mobility! After parking, there is a route that leads directly to the viewing platform. If you fancy a more up close and personal experience, do continue walking down and be met with the cooling mists that engulf you. Surrounded by verdant greenery and moss-covered rocks, the falls’ beauty is enhanced by another of Mother Nature’s creations.
