Maliebaan station now houses the Railway Museum, showcasing everything and anything under the sun about trains. Preserving equipment from the Dutch national railway, these equipment date back to as far as the 1800s!


Hop on a train ride through the years, first entering the “Great Discovery”. The Amsterdam-Haarlem, the Dutch’s first railway line, using the De Arend steam locomotive. As your journey continues, you can even get the chance to ride like the rich, riding on the Orient Express! A dream many had hoped for previously, this exhibit is aptly named “Dream Journeys”. As you continue on your journey, you will come close to these “Steel Monsters”. Massive, life-sized steam locomotives are within touching distance, as your cruise by, thankful you will never be up against them. Continue your journey through the other exhibits, with a chance to see even more models of Dutch trains, from even newer electric and diesel ones! Aside from the trains, you can even check out the waiting rooms here! Don’t forget to sit on the thrilling rollercoaster in “The Fire Test”, taking you through a journey or nearly 2 centuries of track history. A great way to spend a rainy day indoors or just a day out, this will appeal to all.
