Putti Fountain (Fontana dei Putti)

A little fountain with a big history.

Situated in front of the breathtaking Pisa Cathedral and The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the intricate Putti Fountain. The Putti Fountain, or The Fountain With Angels, is easily overlooked as the UNESCO heritage area is filled with many larger and more famous attractions. Despite being smaller than most surrounding structures, it is still a special treasure within the Piazza dei Miracle. It holds great historical significance by being a water source for the local Pisan citizens back in the 17th century. Rebuilt in the 18th century, the simple fountain was adorned with three angels sculpted from marble by Flaminio Vacca. Today, it stands grand and proud within the bustling square - a truly beautiful Baroque structure which should definitely not be missed on a visit to Italy.
