Ponte di Mezzo

The enchanting bridge spanning the sparkling waters of the Arno River.

A bridge steeped in history, the gorgeous Ponte di Mezzo is unmissable for visitors who arrive via train at the Stazione Centrale. Near the Field of Miracles (another popular attraction that you should also find time to visit!), the Ponte di Mezzo spans the sparkling waters of the Arno River. With a length of 89 m, the single arch stands at a height of 12.5 m. It was made out of concrete and reinforced with fine white Verona stone. Though it was devastated by World War II bombings, it was later reconstructed with the help of some very generous locals. Take a stroll on the bridge and gaze at the reflection of the magnificent, intricate buildings on the tranquil surface of the Arno River. Ponte di Mezzo is the perfect place to go if you are seeking for some time alone, with the calm Arno River, the charming cityscape and the clear skies as your peaceful companions.
