Ponte degli Scalzi

Best for taking selfies with the perfect backdrop of elegant Palazzos and the famous Grand Canal of Venice.

As soon as you exit Santa Lucia Railway station, Ponte degli Scalzi is likely the first bridge you will see. One of the four massive bridges spanning the Grand Canal, it was designed by Eugenio Miozzi and was completed in 1934, as a replacement for the Austrian iron bridge. Literally translated as ‘Bridge of the Barefoot Monks', the Ponte degli Scalzi is a stone arch bridge. Always crowded and bustling with life, the bridge is a popular spot for taking selfies, as it provides a wonderful backdrop of the elegant Venetian Palazzos as well as the numerous exotic gondolas plying the canal waterways.
