Point Sur Lighthouse

A spooky but shining attraction not to be missed!

Despite its reputation as a haunted destination, Point Sur Lighthouse possesses an extremely rich history, as well as some of the most breathtaking views in California. Since its establishment in 1889, the lighthouse continues to serve as a beacon to incoming ships, guiding them along the dangerous central California coast.

Take a stroll along the boardwalk leading up to the lighthouse, accompanied with the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore. Gaze upon the magnificent rocky cliffs in the distance, and while you’re at it, take plenty of photos too! Regular guided tours are available, and they will take you on a historic journey through the interior of the lighthouse. But for those of you who are more adventurous, you might want to test your bravery with their “Ghost Tours“. Regardless of whether you’re a history or a horror aficionado, Point Sur Lighthouse is bound to pique your interest.

Tips Before You Go
If you are participating in the guided tour, feel free to let the volunteer guides know if you need to take a break from all the walking. The walk to the lighthouse is steep and may be challenging for those with difficulty walking. Remember to bring your jackets along with you too, as the wind can be rather strong, and it can get chilly at the top.
