The lively convergence point of different lives in the city.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience how teeming and alive the city of Buenos Aires is, the Plaza Italia is a good place to start. Location-wise, it serves as the meeting point of several important avenues, the Santa Fe Avenue and Avenida Sarmiento. Other nearby landmarks include the main entrance of the Zoo, the Botanical Gardens, and the la Rural Expo Centre. Underneath the park runs the ‘D’ line of the Metro station. With all these important routes converging on the Plaza, there’s no wonder it has become a public transportation hub in the city. But it is also a quiet and beautiful space, dominated by the iconic statue of an Italian hero sitting on a horse. The statue was donated by the local Italian community in the 20th century, and explains why the plaza was named ‘Italia.’ Bearing all this in mind, take a moment to stop here and soak in the busy hum of city life going on around you.
