Planty Park

Rejuvenate your soul in the green sanctuary of Planty Park.

Spanning an immense area of 21,000 square metres, the Planty Park is one of the largest in the city of Kraków. Built in the 1820s, this charming park encloses the Stare Miasto (Old Town) and was developed as Kraków’s green belt. One can choose to admire the many historic sites and other enchanting gems found within the park’s vicinity, or take a leisurely stroll amongst the beautiful trees, vibrant flowers, delightful fountains and interesting monuments found scattered in Planty Park (of course you can do both as no one said that you can’t have a cake and eat it). In fact, walking through the leafy Planty Park is akin to giving yourself a quick glance and insight into the history of Krakow as you pass by a short segment of the old walls, the 13th century Gothic Florianska Gate, the 15th century defensive fortress, the Barbakan, a 17th century bishop’s palace, the majestic Wawel Castle (which looks splendid next to the sparkling Vistula River!) and a Carmelite monastery which once served as an Austrian prison, among other noteworthy places to look out for while at Planty Park. With so much to explore and marvel at while at Planty Park, you are bound to have your fill of fun!
