Plakias Beach

Complete with the quiet Grecian town of Plakias and its unforgettable sunsets.

Plakias beach bears the name of its village yet is not to be confused with the larger bay area that it is part of. The beach itself can be drawn into three sections: the rough, pebbled shores closer to the port, the extensive golden coast between and the sheltered shores of Amoudi backed against sheer cliffs. With two diving schools and plenty of sea beds to explore, Plakias is paradise for avid swimmers. While at the far eastern end, those up for a challenge can even attempt to scale the cliff face. From the village of Mirthios, one would be treated to the view of the land rising and falling away to the north while the wide expanse of the Libyan Sea stretches infinitely to the South. Most visitors choose to stay within Plakias however, exploring the narrow streets and diverse food options up on offer. A word of caution would be to avoid the summer months where the hustle and bustle of tourists can be rather overwhelming.

Tips Before You Go
Though Plakias is a convenient spot for families and people of most ages, reaching the waters can be a slight hassle. The rocks by the beach are sharp at some points and some walking is required before the pebbles smoothen out and seabed is taken over by soft sand once more. With some care and proper footwear, this shouldn’t be a significant issue.
