Pinakothek der Moderne

The epitome of Munich’s art scene.

A day of art and culture awaits you at Pinakothek der Moderne, one of the world’s most extensive museums to explore modern and contemporary art. Opened in 2002, its simplistic and sleek architecture holds wonders as you walk through four significant exhibitions spread throughout 12,000 square meters. All these are housed in a 4-storey interior with pristine white walls and natural sunlight glistening in from the dome-like roof.

Start your journey at the State Gallery of Modern Art, with famous works of Picasso, Kandinsky and many more, or the “New Collection” gallery, which will transport you back to the 1960’s industrial revolution with its antique furniture and quirky jewellery collection. You will especially enjoy the colourful displays at the State Graphics Collection and Architecture Museum, home to over 40,000 detailed drawings, as well as a studio overflowing with blueprints and photographs! Do pay this museum a visit and soak in Munich’s rich art scene.
