Kaohsiung City, Taiwan
Pier-2 Art Center (高雄驳二艺术区)

Arts Appreciation.

An art center converted from an abandoned warehouse site from the 1970s, visitors will be thrilled to find interesting galleries, fascinating art installation, fabulous boutiques, trendy cafes and other entertainment outlets at the Pier-2 Art Center. Discover its two boulevards by the port where you can take a peek into designer workshops, hop into the Ham Gallery, check out the bookstore or take a break at any of the cosy cafes or restaurants – with so much to do, you are bound to have you fill of fun! For those of you simply looking for a place to relax, do head to the wonderful lawn and admire the impressive installation art strategically placed around the lawn and constructed using materials salvaged from Kaohsiung's industrial past.

In addition, some memorable and intriguing places you might want to keep a lookout for while at the Pier-2 Art Center include the Upside Down House and the wall mural of a little boy in his birthday suit, cheekily “peeing” on unsuspecting passers-by periodically. To conclude your visit, do not miss the disused railway tracks filled with pretty wildflowers which exudes a romantic charm at sunset (get your cameras ready to capture the warm glow of the evening Sun!).
