Once a Roman forum, the Piazza delle Erbe is the heart of Verona, circled around by River Adige. Bustling with life, the sweet smell of freshly brewed cappuccino fills the air as locals and tourists throng the square. The most visually striking feature of the piazza is the elegant fountain built in 1368 by Cansignorio della Scala. Exuding an equal amount of charm would be the stunning statue of the Madonna Verona, also dubbed as The Virgin of Verona, which surmounts the fountain. Remember to stop by and admire the grandeur of the Baroque Palazzo Maffei which is decorated by the mighty statues of Greek gods.
