Peterhof Palace

Indulge in the majestic grandeur of Peterhof Palace.

Known as the ‘Russian Versailles’ with the version in France was the main inspiration behind Peter the Great's wish to construct such an elegant palace in St. Petersburg, the Peterhof Palace and its immediate environs exude so much charm that this entire place has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most visually stunning feature of the palace compound is the spectacular Grand Cascade (Bolshoi Kaskad) where at its base, the mesmerising Sea Channel (Morskoi Kanal), a marvellous Baroque waterworks flows and bisects the lower gardens. Be sure to step inside the charming Grand Palace (Bolshoi Dvorets) and feast your eyes upon its most lavish furnishings and collections of masterpieces. A must-see, the Peterhof Palace is truly the precious pearl of St. Petersburg.

Tips Before You Go
The best time to visit Peterhof Palace and in fact, St. Petersburg, will be in June during the white nights when daylight hours are much longer (sometimes all the way till midnight!). That is when you get to see the place brimming with night life. Nonetheless, visiting anytime from May to October is still a good time as the fountain complex and its gilded statues will be open then – the highlight of this Russian Versailles.
