A haven of sprawling grasslands, tranquil water features, and a rich variety of tropical plants.
Conceptualized and built during the colonial era, the Perdana Botanical Garden has had a handful of minor reincarnations throughout its 130-year history.
Home to the manmade Perdana Lake and the Royal Lake Club, it is an oasis in the city that transports visitors away from the gleaming press of skyscrapers; it takes a little effort, once you are among the trees and sculpted shrubbery, to remember that this estate is only a taste of nature in an urban jungle. You’ll see locals indulging in the tranquility of the park, be it via tai-chi practitioners, joggers or picnickers and it isn’t hard to see why they do so. The gardens does exude a kind of calming effect, and has charmed locals and tourists alike, which makes many keep coming back for more!
It’s a perfect place for long, quiet strolls and laidback picnic luncheons – a chance to recharge after an excursion around the city. For those wanting a little more excitement, the Perdana Botanical Garden also houses many attractions, including the world’s largest covered bird park, the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park, and for a glimpse into history – the National Monument. You can even book a Segway tour should you want to take a break from walking! Additionally, located at the fork of the three main roads is a square where events are regularly held.
