Located on the periphery of George Town, Penang Botanical Gardens boasts such a diverse offering of flora and fauna that you can experience the whole world within this thirty-hectare space. Take your pick between exploring the tropical tangle of the fern house and orchidarium, traipsing through temperate sanctum of the Japanese garden, or even wandering amongst the arid delights of the cactus and succulent house. Run, cycle or hike. And for the more adventurous, you can venture off-track into the unconstrained jungle wilderness to behold the cheeky chittering of monkeys and the gushing ribbons of waterfalls up-close. From relaxing in the fragrant herb garden during the muggy heat of the morning haze, to witnessing the great rain tree at the main entrance as it winds down for the day during the magical blue hour in the evening – it is impossible not to lose yourself within this lovely green refuge of Penang Botanical Gardens.

Tips Before You Go
Avoid bringing food and keep a firm grip on your belongings as some monkeys may get aggressive with snatching items. Do not feed the monkeys, and you may incur a fine if you do so.
If you wish to visit the gardens’ waterfall, you can opt to arrange for access with Penang Water Authority beforehand, or check in with the Friends of the Penang Botanical Gardens to join their monthly tours.
