Pasadena Convention Center

The convention centre that is the centrepiece of the Pasadena Civic Center District.

Built in 1931, the Pasadena Convention Center is famous for hosting some of America’s most popular shows, including the Emmy Awards from 1977 to 1997. Currently, it hosts the People’s Choice Awards, and has held the auditions for America's Got Talent for a few years. Iconic concerts such as Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, where Michael Jackson debuted his famous “moonwalk” dance move, have also taken place here, making the Convention Centre one with a long history.

However, people don’t go there just to admire the auditoriums and halls for the events of the past, as many concerts and conventions take place there every year. Whether you are a fan of reptiles, quilts, space or advocate for people with Celiac Disease, there’s a convention or event for you at the Convention Centre’s many halls and Civic Auditorium. The Pasadena Ice Skating Center is also located within the building, and it is open for public sessions on weekday afternoons.

Tips Before You Go
As the Convention Centre is more of a commercial place than a tourist spot, parking in the building itself can be difficult, especially at and after lunch time, but there is street parking available nearby. Though Pasadena is a short distance away from Los Angeles, it is well-connected and you can take the METRO Gold Line to the Convention Centre!
