Partington Cove

The raw and secluded cove in Big Sur.

Once used as a spot for Prohibition-era bootleggers, Partington Cove is an untouched natural beauty off the Big Sur coastline. To access the cove, visitors must take a short, steep hike that brings them across a bridge and through a tunnel to the breathtaking cove. At the cove, visitors will be captivated by the aqua clear waters and the abundance of kelp that dance beneath. There is a small bench for visitors to rest and take in the beauty of the wonderful cove. As this place was a loading freight, remnants of what used to be a loading area can be seen here. While the water looks temptingly clear and inviting, do note that swimming here is off-limits and there is no real beach access. For the more adventurous and agile visitors, venture up the rocks to enjoy a different perspective of the cove.
