Spread out over 340 hectares of densely forested greenery, the Parque Zoologico Nacional is home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna with over 700 species of animals in open enclosures resembling that of their natural habitat. Ornithologists will rejoice in the over 130 species of indigenous and migratory birds that take up residence in the park, earning it the title of the fifth most visited area for bird watching in Cuba.


Discover the world of lions, hippos, zebras, rhinoceros and giraffes via a unique trolley bus ride (guide included) at the Parque Zoologico Nacional, making it perfect for families, especially those with young children. A children’s zoo with various small animals situated within the park entertains and educates the kids on the local wildlife ecosystem, and is a great place to expose the children to the beauty and splendour of mother nature. Tips Before You Go
The Parque Zoologico Nacional is situated out of the city, and is best accessed via taxi or private vehicle, although public transportation to the attraction is also available.
Visitors are recommended to visit the park as early as possible, to avoid the crowds in the late mornings and afternoons.
