Parco Ciani

The lungs of Lugano city.

Stroll along paths shaded by wizened old trees and vividly colourful flower beds as you bask in the warm sunlight at Lugano’s Parco Ciani. Framed by velvety green lawns and beautifully sculpted statues and fountains, the park creates a serene, peaceful ambience that provides visitors with a brief reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life. Situated on the shores of Lake Lugano, the massive green park is a favourite of locals and tourists alike due to its seasonal flowering vegetation and beautiful panoramas overlooking the pristine, deep blue waters of Lake Lugano and surrounding cityscape.

The park is divided into 2 areas: the first is within the vicinity of the elegant, peach-coloured Villa Ciani, whilst the second extends from the jetty to the river Cassarate. Within the first area, ornate ancient gates welcome visitors into the beautiful English and Italian-style gardens and provide a great photo opportunity of Lake Lugano (big hint for visitors looking for that perfect Instagrammable shot). Visitors discover the rugged beauty of mother nature within the second area of Parco Ciani, with its magnificent and exotic species of trees native to the Ticino region, and a fantastic viewpoint overlooking Lugano city from the mouth of river Cassarate. Perfect for visitors of all ages, the park also has a children’s playground with numerous recreational activities, and is an ideal destination for a day of rest and relaxation in Lugano city.
