Parc des Bastions

A quiet green space well-loved by the city of Geneva.

As its name suggests, the Parc des Bastions is indeed a bastion of nature located deep in the heart of the urban city of Geneva. With lush overhanging trees and exquisitely cultivated shrubbery everywhere you turn, the park is a welcome relief from the heat of the day. But this is no mere ordinary public park: this is actually the site of Geneva’s first botanical garden, and houses several other attractions as well. If you are looking to experience Geneva at its most iconic, this is a good place to start. Just nearby is the Reformation Wall, a tourist attraction in its own right. The Palais Eynard, home to the executive authorities of the city, is also within walking distance. And if you’re just looking to relax, why not enjoy a quiet stroll through the promenade lined with trees, or a leisurely game on one of several life-sized chess sets scattered around the park? Whatever activity you choose to partake in, it is a guarantee that a quiet afternoon in this park will surely allow you to rest and recharge.

Tips Before You Go
There is also a restaurant as well as several stalls that can provide refreshments and a bite to eat if you are spending your lunch hour at the park. A large adventure playground in the park is also a draw for young children. Just be warned that this park gets rather crowded every evening, as people visit here to just relax after a long day at work.
